STUDY OF PREDICTIVE TOXICITY FOR PHYTOCHEMICALS PRESENT IN MACROTYLOMA UNIFLORUM (LAM.) VERDC.: AN IN SILICOSTUDY

Abstract
Abstract - The medicinal plant,Macrotyloma uniflorum(Lam.) Verdc. is commonlyused the seed extract for antibacterial phytochemicals. The objective of the present study was to predict toxicity of selected phytochemicals ofM. uniflorum seed through an in silico approach by using ProTox-II online server. In the present study, we selected 24 phytocompounds for the predictive study. Among 24 phytocompounds, 12 compounds as class V (may be harmful after swallowing), 9 compounds as class IV (harmful after swallowing) and 2 compounds were class III (toxic after swallowing) were obtained. Moreover, none of them were hepatotoxic and cytotoxic while 2 compounds were mutagenic,7 compounds were carcinogenic, and 5 compounds were immune-toxic. Moreover, in future research this predictive data should be validated with further toxicological, pharmacological and bacterial inhibition study for confirmation of antibacterial compound(s). In other words, crude extract may impair the human health, which may be used the non-toxic lead compound for new antibacterial drug discovery.
