Polar Decomposition of Mueller Matrix Images from Benign Prostate Tissue

Abstract
Pathologically characterized and stained sections of benign prostate tissue with appropriate combinations of polarization state generator and polarization state analyzer using seven independent variable states is used to generate scattering intensities images. The recorded intensity images are cropped and processed respectively using Lu and Chipman formalism to obtain the 16 elemental Mueller Matrix. The Mueller Matrix images are further decomposed using polar decomposition technique and the polarization properties of tissue in terms of Diattenuation, Depolarization and Retardance are understood.
