Some Preliminary Studies on the Stresses in a T-Head Model using Photoelastic and FEM Arrroaches
This paper presents the results of some preliminary studies conducted to validate the photoelastic approach used
in the investigation of stress distributions in a T-Head model which represents a simplified 2-D version of a compressor
blade of an aeroengine. For purposes of validation parallel Finite Element Analyses (FEM) were carried out. The obtained
stress results are converted into the corresponding photoelastic parameter (Fringe Order, N) and the comparison was carried
out. The photoelastic results show a good agreement with the FEM results.
