Abstract
Multiple-Choice question/Extended matching questions/items is a method of assessment which assesses the cognitive knowledge of the examinees. Constructing a multiple-choice question should be accurate and fair. To improve the quality and examine the validity and reliability of the test items, analysis of the results must be examined critically. With the current observation based methodologies in accurately determining the test parameters, item analysis could prove to refine and improve the quality of test items. Previous research studies on analysis of test items by the test parameters was retrieved from PubMed. Excerpts were picked from these studies to summarise the interpretation of test items. Developing good test items is an iterative process, and item analysis uses test results to feedback and to evaluate instructional effectiveness.
