Frequency Reconfigurable Semicircular Microstrip Patch Antenna for 700 MHz LTE Band

Abstract
A novel compact single-substrate planar microstrip semicircular patch frequency reconfigurable antenna to cover LTE 700 MHz (694MHz-837MHz) bands is proposed. The frequency reconfigurability is realized using two varactor diodes connected to the antenna using open stubs. The antenna has been designed on a h=1.6 mm thick FR-4 substrate (εr=4.4 tanδ =0.02). The overall dimension of the antenna is 100 mm × 100 mm × 1.6 mm and it is being fed by a Zo=50 Ω impedance line. This antenna operates between 694 MHz to 837 MHz with return loss ≤ -10 dB.
