Phase Analysis by Rietveld Refinement of Strontium Cobalt Oxide Powder

Abstract
An attempt has been made here to synthesized a highly stable oxygen deficient strontium cobaltite by decomposition of sol – gel derived oxalate at 1000 oC for 10 h in air. This obtained product was analyzed by x-ray diffraction and further examined under Rietveld refinement. It corresponds to a rhombohedral phase that matches well with the composition Sr6Co5O15, lattice parameters ‘aR’ = 6.869 Å, with secondary phase of spinel cubic Co3O4 (a = 8.0862 Å). The Rietveld refinement shows that the strontium cobalt oxide can have well observed rhombohedral phase. Keywords - Perovskite-Type Oxides; Strontium Cobaltite; Rietveld Refinement
