Film and Literature: A Secret Pact

Abstract
This paper makes a small attempt to highlight some of the problems associated with adapting literary works into films and the benefits of doing so. The long and enduring relationship between films and literature is a complex one that needs to be studied in detail to understand how detrimental or instrumental this relationship can be. Since media adaptations of literary works are inexorable, it is high time that students, scholars of literature as well as film studies, and people, in general, learn about the indissoluble pact between the two art forms and cultivate the skill of analyzing literary works, their respective film adaptations and films in general through a well-designed and dynamic course on ‘Film and Literature.’ Keywords - Adaptation, Literature, Film, Intricate, Relationship.
