Supervisor-Supervisee Interaction in Field Work Practicum: Perspectives of Master of Social Work Students in Tamil Nadu

Abstract
This research analyzes the dynamic communications between a supervisor and a supervisee during the fieldwork practicum of Master of Social Work students from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Its core objectives are to analyze the students’ perspectives of these interactions and their influence on the learning process. The research particularly focuses on how each student’s unique background affects their approach toward instruction while aiming to enhance the overall experience for learners, adaptive strategies aimed at different levels, thus broadening the instructional design enhancing future social work practitioners throughout Tamil Nadu. The study employs descriptive statistics, Independent sample ‘t’ statistical test of survey with 144 students to understand their perspectives towards supervision. The results reveal that constructive supervision significantly enhances independent analysis and professional development. The information was obtained through questionnaires which demonstrated both positive and negative aspects of the supervisory roles. Students also reported that supervision can be improved through collaboration between the institution and the agency. Crystal clear observation from the result is how quality supervision impacts students Professional skill development. A revised fieldwork supervision framework will enhance the standard of supervision in future.
