EVALUATING THE DIVINE ENERGY OF SUNRISE BY ESTABLISHING AN ESP32-BASED LIGHT SPECTROMETER AND HEART RATE MONITORING SYSTEM
Abstract
The energy of sunrise is divine: it not only directs sunflower heads toward the east but also drove ancient civilizations to establish sunrise-focused spiritual practices. Morning sunlight is the main synchronizer of the human circadian rhythm, and exposure to it brings many health benefits.
Nowadays, various methods have been developed to enhance mental clarity. HeartMath stands out prominently as they emphasise the oscillation of heart rate variability (HRV) around 0.1 Hz, which is indicative of a relaxed yet highly coherent physiological state. This state reflects synchronization between heart and mind, often achieved through rhythmic breathing techniques practiced for several minutes daily, or through the intentional engagement of positive emotions.
Returning to the roots and rediscovering the profound power of dawn and sunrise, we developed a spectrum-measuring device based on ESP32 to analyze the physics of light before and during sunrise, comparing it to that of sunset. In parallel, we conducted measurements of heart rate by means of ESP32, a smart- wearable device and assessed coherence with a HeartMath device.
A clear spectral difference between sunset and sunrise was measured, significantly greater overall light intensity at sunrise, and—most importantly—substantial improvements in heart rate, coherence, and associated health outcomes. Notably, enhancements in mental clarity were observed not only immediately but also notably increased over a two-week period of sungazing practices, accompanied by a marked reduction in heart rate at rest. These findings suggest a promising practice for promoting health, increasing energy, and enhancing mental clarity.
